how do colleges view leaping SAT scores?

i mean, if you jump from a 1700 to 2300 they'll examine it with a great deal of skepticism and may reject the higher score (so i hear)

but say, you went from the 2000's to 2200's or from the 600s to 700s in math subject tests or whatever test, take your pick, will they hold the lower scores against you?

i think the college board sometimes investigates if you jump more than 400 pts (check to see your neighbors scores and if you were cheating). but i know a lot of kids who took the sats just so see how they could do and then got tutoring, so its common for scores to increase drastically. and no, they look at the highest score only.

i'm glad it's common then

and yeah, i can handle math classes fine but for some reason, sat math is not my best forte, only of concern because i'm thinking about MIT. blah

yeha MIT is rather sat obsessed. what are your scores? (if you dont mind)

when you say SAT obsessed....what score do you think would be legitimate for MIT??

id venture to say 750 math or higher -- definetly over 700 but their numerical middle 50% are higher than HYP

so would 740 CR 790 M 740 Wr be considered a plus for my application or just the norm...??

Ivyhopeful555, your scores are "good" and won't keep you out -- but they're not going to "wow" the adcoms because most people have 2200+ scores (those applying to MIT).

yeah, youre definetly a good applicant for mit. they care about math most (obviously)
