<p>I think I said Physics, and I got deferred.</p>
<p>MIT maintains that what you have written in this space on Part 1 does not affect your decision.</p>

For the short essay, I mentioned some research I had done over the summer on alloys and stated an interest in continuing materials science research.</p>

<p>i applied for "biotech engineering" and only realized after i'd turned my app in that MIT doesn't have that as an undergrad major (only a minor). i still got in... phew!</p>
