Major selection

I was wondering if certain majors make it easier or more difficult to get into a school

I would like to apply to the cal state system as a bussiness econ major (college of liberal arts) and wanted to know if my chances of getting into a school would change if I chose another major from the college of liberal arts like journalism or history

I’m a community college student currently and am looking to transfer for fall 2021

Cal states admit by major and for transfers that means you must have completed the major specific course requirements. Will you have the major transfer course requirements completed for Journalism or History along with Business Econ by Spring prior to transfer?

What CSU’s are you targeting? Which major would be your first choice?

Yes, I will have completed all major transfer course requirements for all three of the majors you mentioned by the end of Spring.

I was looking at CSUF and Long Beach and my ideal choice for a major would be Business Economics. However if my odds of admittance are increased by going with another major I’d definitely consider that

What is your CSU transfer GPA? Are you local for either campus?

According to 2019 data for CSULB (no 2020 data):
Business had an average admit CSU GPA of 3.19
History had an average admit CSU GPA of 3.25
Economics had an average admit CSU GPA of 3.26.
Journalism had an average admit CSU GPA of 3.28.

For CSUF, I only have average CSU GPA for admitted students overall which was 3.37 for 2020. The majority of applicants were for the College of Business and Economics with a 66.7% acceptance rate.

As I stated above, go for the your 1st choice major.
