Help, I would love to get some advice on my weird SAT performance, after my third try it is just a pattern. I looked up my May SAT score today, and I can NOT increase my critical reading score.

Am i completely out of luck for an ivy???? I am being recruited to play volleyball at one, but have fallen in love with another, so have to get in to that one based on academics. AHHHHHHH!!!!

I know this is only one aspect of admissions-but this is driving me nuts, my other stuff is strong, 4.8 wgpa, 3.9 unweighted, strong ECs, lalalala

What would you do? Try the ACT? Take SAT again in October?(don't think it will matter)
I appreciate all your suggestions.

If you’ve taken the exam multiple times most colleges (exceptions include HYPS) will look at your highest scores in each section so if you’ve done better in the past then they’ll read that score. Another thing is that if you are being recruited to a university you have to be within two standard deviations of the average to get in, which a total score of 2130 may be for non-HYP ivies.

Also ACT won’t help you as there is a reading section on there too.

From what we have experienced, ACT reading is a completely different type of test…try a practice; see how you do…if the vocab on the SAT is the issue, there is no vocab on the ACT…

Yes, try the ACT. The CR score is very important to colleges, if you can’t get a higher score with the ACT fall in love with the college recruiting you, it’s about total of CR and Math, not about overall total and an under 600 score would make an ivy highly unlikely for as non hooked candidate. So would an under 700 score. While it’s just one aspect, it’s a critical one.

Just a follow up to you guys who advised me to take the ACT. I did much better on the reading part than the SAT reading (ACT 32, SAT 590). My composite score is 32, Math 34(800 SAT), science 30, English 33. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR ADVICE!!!

Would you suggest I just use my ACT test scores for applications, or send both SAT and ACT?
