I am currently an undergrad chemistry major at American univeristy. My interests are chemistry and botany, hence why my main goal is to study phytochemistry. I would major in biology, but my passion is more centered towards chemistry. Biochemistry was also an option, however I would like to study as little genetics as possible, which is a large part of the curriculum. Let me know if you have any ideas on the best plan to be able to study phytochemistry.
Would your intent be to stay at American, or transfer?
If you would like to tranfer, consider Connecticut College, which would allow you to major in botany and minor in chemistry.
I’m currently looking to transfer so I will take that into consideration, thank you!
Juast about any big state U that has a college of agriculture probably has coursework related to your interest. Spend some time with scholar.google to find people whose research interests you, then check the programs at the universities where those authors are based.
Major in chemistry, minor in or take a few relevant classes in biology. You can do that just about anywhere, and most colleges will have at least a few biology classes in botany.
