Majors at these schools?

Hi guys,

I’m currently a junior at an extremely competitive and well-known (in the Northeast) high school with a 96 unweighted GPA (0-100 scale). All classes at my school are considered honors or AP. I took the ACT w/out prep earlier this year and received a 25, but right about now I’m around a 32 composite score. My class rank is 25/438. I also believe I have all of the necessary extracurriculars/athletics to be a competitive applicant at the schools listed below.

I definitely want to go either the business or pre-med (in which i would major in bio) route in college, but I’m torn between the two. So far I am looking at Amherst, Tufts, Hamilton, Colgate, Cornell, Brown, Wesleyan U, and Washington & Lee. I am also looking at Holy Cross and Villanova as safety schools.

Ivies aside, essentially what I’m asking is what are the pros/cons of those majors at these schools?

Thanks in advance.

What’s with all the kids who are from my school who have suddenly started coming to College Confidential? Is the guidance department really that incompetent here?

Anyway, I’m a current senior from our school who is going to Tufts next year. I was ranked similarly to you (26/417 I believe), with a 34 composite ACT score. I’ll PM you with more information over the weekend once I get a chance. Feel free to also look through Naviance and compare what your stats are like with other students who have applied/been accepted to those schools. For instance, at UVA you basically need a 97+ to be accepted, but some schools take students with higher test scores if their average is good enough.
