Apparently the only major is “Liberal Arts: 100%” according to collegeboard, but what if I want to major in something else at Emory?

If I go to Emory and graduate after two years of Oxford, what does it say on my diploma? Two years of Oxford and two of Emory?

you usually declair your major after your sophmore year, so at both emory and oxford i believe you have a liberal arts education for the first two years. If you choose to go to oxford, after your sophmore year, you would choose a major from emory for your last two years, just like emory students.

Your deploma wont be any different from the ‘four year’ emory students deplomas, they are all the same

hope this helps

@ oxford… there are different focuses / tracks that you can study depending on what you wanna do in the future [even tho emory is “liberal arts” first 2 yrs]. for example, im looking to study at Goizueta my jnr and snr years; thus, will be taking a pre-business track @ oxford [w/ courses like bus stat/calc, micro/macroecon, etc]

Thanks guys This helps a lot!!!

But, what if I want to go into the medical field? Any suggestions of the courses I should take?

Emory Medical School requires the following classes as pre-requisites to admission.

Physical Science 8 semester hours (with lab)
Biology 8 semester hours (with lab)
Chemistry 8 semester hours (with lab)
Organic Chemistry 8 semester hours (with lab)
English 6 semester hours
Humanities/Social Sciences 18 semester hours

Most medical colleges have very similar requirements. Most also require calculus or statistics.

Best to look up what is required at several med schools you think you might attend and make sure you have all the requirements for all those schools. Also remember that most medical schools will not take AP classes as fulfilling the requirements. So don’t think you can opt out of biology because you passed AP biology. You may just need to go ahead and take the next level of biology. Mostly just don’t assume anything.

If you ask, Emory will send you a course catalog and you can go ahead and start considering your four year plan. Just reserve some flexability because sometimes classes are cancelled or conflict. Scheduling issues can mess up the best laid plans.

Good luck!

both first two years of emory and oxford are strictly for general education requirements (GECs) so neither of them will lower ur chances of getting into pre med. U will have plenty of time to figure out a schedule during freshmen orientation and ur adivsor can help u out.

Thanks for the advice!
