make me feel better

Good for you CAVAgrl- you can always get that "name recognition" in grad school.

what are the 'top three uc's'?

if it makes you feel better i feel much worse than you. i didn't apply to ucla or ucb. i'll never find out if i got rejected or not which will haunt me for the next 4 years. maybe you can get in by appealing, something i can't even do.

we are obviously not the same type of people. dont you always want and strive for the best? thats all im doing.

No, you're being arrogant. Far higher scoring students deserve top schools obviously than you. With the recent wave of students these past couple of years who have an average GPA of 3.98, how I see it is that you're lucky that you even got into SB with your current statistics. Enjoy what you have and stop whining over something that you shouldn't even be crying over kiddo. Reality check, your grades aren't as great as you think they are.

madkapitolist

I think you should try to accept ur current situation, because honestly, your stats are not stellar (you must realize this too).

Nevertheless, go for the appeal
cuz it never hurts to try

dont give up because things may turn your way

however dont set your hopes on these appeals either
I know it stings, getting rejected from the colleges of your dreams, being deemed a failure by your own standrads, nevertheless it is how you tough out these situations (not your marks or what college you attend) which truly defines your worth.

if you really cared about going to a better school, you would have applied to harvard, donated a building and blown the director of admissions

Excellent grades or great stats, all of us who consider UCSB a fourth choice (myself included) and are feeling bad for ourselves really need to wake up the fact that its a damned fine institution and Berkeley can go **** itself. Oh, **** SD and LA too. As matter of fact, **** all of them. I need a beer.

eh im feeling better about SB on a daily basis. still clinging onto appeals though.

Yeah, same.

All I can tell you guys is what my daughter said to me in November: "I'm so glad all those other schools rejected me, because there's nowhere I'd rather be than here."

Your stats suck, quit being a jerk about it.

chill out ass pirate, i already said im feeling better about ucsb. what do you want.

From what i've heard buis-econ is actually pretty good at SB. Also SB is one of the best college towns with a great beach! I would go but I live here.

pamavision : maybe she'd say the same thing if she went to another school? heh.

In fact, she herself made that point a few months ago when we were talking about the poor college counseling she'd received from her high school counselor. (WAAAAY higher stats than madkapitolist, rejected from 7 schools, waitlisted at one, accepted at only two.) She could have gone to SB with an attitude (like madkapitolist) - instead, she went with an open mind and found not only excellent academics but a good group of friends and an extracurricular activity that she loves all in the space of a month or two. SB is an excellent school in a great little college town, large enough that there's something for everyone, small enough to be accessible. You'll get as good an education at SB as at any of the UCs, without question. As for prestige, I have a long view of which UCs are/have been in favor over the last thirty years or so. UCLA used to be the consolation prize school (everyone's third choice when you could choose only three UCs to apply to), while Santa Cruz turned them away in droves. I't pretty clear to me that UCSB is a school on the rise. I congratulate those of you who have been admitted on your good fortune. I'm only sorry that my younger kids won't apply to SB because they don't want to go to the same school as their sister!
