Making changes to CSS Profile?

I completed the CSS Profile 2 weeks ago. I worked a job last year for 6 months, and made enough money for me to file taxes with my parents. That was in 2006 though, and I used the 2005 tax forms to enter the information into the CSS, which did NOT include my own income. I didn't add my income into he total 2006 income, b/c I thought I wouldn't need to file taxes with my parents. Its off by a bit, but I'm sure with the added income, my EFC would still be 0. Is there a way for me to change the information on the CSS Profile and the FAFSA form?

Thanks.

You can change the FAFSA on line by checking your SAT, then clikc Modify.

Any changes to the Profile must be done by hand on a hard copy of the one you submitted on line, and then mailed to your colleges.

So do I just print out my CSS profile, and then make the necessary changes with a pen, crossing stuff out and putting the correct information on? Or do I have to do the whole thing over again?

You print it out and write the changes on the original. When we did it, we used a color pen so that the items changed would easily be seen. You will want to call the colleges where you have submitted the Profile to find out exactly who to send the corrections to. They will tell you their procedure.

Will submitting an IDOC make up for the incorrect information?

bumpbumpbump

I just called up the collegeboard and asked, and they said as far as I could tell, yes. if you submit the IDOC with the correct tax information, you don't have to submit a corrected CSS profile as well. That's the purpose of using the IDOC. Can anyone back me up on this? The lady had an accent and was a bit unclear.

We called the colleges directly and asked them what THEY wanted. Remember that some colleges use Profile but do not use IDOC. Call the school finaid office, and they will tell you what to do. When we did this last year, in all cases we were told to print out the submitted profile, write in the corrections and mail them to the college...this included one school which did use IDOC.

Thanks for the info, I will call schools first thing tomorrow to find out.

Do we need to submit the corrected CSS profile to the collegeboard too, or just to the schools that request them?

You submit corrected Profiles to the colleges only.
