Making money in college

Being a modestly frugal individual, actually coming out of college with a profit is something I'm interested in. Does anyone know anyone who went into college with little money and worked/did things to make money while in college? Making investments, things like that? Any ways which people actually keep financially stable would be appreciated.

listen to the big bro. the only way to make some money with HONOUR is to duel ur friends to magic. build an invincible deck and challenge every geek in ur school. if u think magic is too costly, time-consumming, challenge ur firends to chess. nothing can be more glorious than to demontrate ur mental greatness to the hot chicks and humbling those sniveling nerds that fill the schools.

as for working in mcdonald's..please. where is the sense of self-respect? screw the minimum wage jobs. i love the style involved in dueling, not interested in the cool ways u can flip burgers.

it's time to du-du-du-duel!!

just get a job...

^^^cause that was retarded

I prefer challenging them to either a whore off or stomp the yard against them, both are more profitable over dueling.

Try and find some jobs offered by your school that pay well. I've made a decent amount of money doing tutoring at my school's mathlab, grading, and being a counselor at a summer program.

I make $12 an hour calling alums and asking for money. Its really easy, and it pays well. See if your university's development office has a similar program.

I have a job. But just as said earlier if you really want money you should be stomping the yard.

I grew up listening to Jay-z so hustlings in my blood...I suggest you listen to more rap about hustling to get in the right mindset

Get a college job and then carefully invest the money. You can probably make a quite a bit if you are a skilled investor. You can also try banding together with a few friends and starting some sort of campus club, and then use it as a front for your illegal gambling operations. You have all of the politicians in New York. Then, go to the Don's daughter's wedding. Make a peace offering.

Saaayyyy hellooo to mah leeetal frieeend! BBEFWUFE

Get a paying internship as soon as possible.

R O T F L: Stomp the yard, dueling, chess, Jay Z...

Man, that is funny. And, I mean that in the nicest possible way. I wish my old guidance counselor hooked me up like that: "Now, young lady, listen to some Jay Z and learn chess, stepping, and swordplay."

^ Oh, there is the way to go! Yeah, I almost ruined my keyboard with lemonade upon reading that!

Nice giggles. I thank you all for the nice giggles (^_^)

Get an associates degree while still in school that way you will get a better paying job

i think most students are having to go through school with loans. wouldn't having a very good paying job affect your fafsa? so you would loose the grants and take more money out to get through school.

if you can find a school that will give you a free ride on merit, then whatever job you get, you will earn profit.

there's always selling drugs

Get a job?? This is college, the toothfairy stayed home kiddo. Look into trust/mutual funds if you want to invest. But, you need money in the beginning to invest with. So, get a job.

I work doing cleaning and I make $12 nights, calling people seems so much easier. But since I am scared to talk to people on the phone Ill stick with my job. I have a full season landscape business that so far has kept me out of debt. It wasnt a big winter here. I think that I will get out w/o debt and with money. Minimum wage jobs wont pay for anything, especially if you have a bill for 20-25k a year w/o family paying for it.

You wont be able to make much if you have to fill out the FAFSA every year since they assess 50% of your income and 10-20% of your assets. The only tax free money you can make is scholarships that go towards paying your tuition. Everything else is fair game to master government.

I hear being a hitman pays pretty well.

I don't have to worry about paying for school or any of that, and I'm hoping that my car won't start having issues while I'm still in school and for a few years after (I'm keeping it as long as it's reliable).

My plan is just to work full time (most likely in a bank or retail) during the first and second summers (unless I find a study abroad program for the second summer) and then get an internship for the third summer. Unless anything crazy happens, I'll be able to graduate with quite a nice little nest.

Your situation may be very different, though, so my plan may not work out so well for you.
