Okay, I'm an international technically not allowed to work off campus. But, i'm sure other students would be interested in this too - do you guys know any ideas on how to make some allowance online without really having to spend gruelling hours online? Do any of you guys do it? Ideas?

selling stuff on ebay?

online poker

id skip the gambling. ebay's good.

Pyramid schemes. Loaning money out to a millionaire in Niger. The stock market. Poker. Online savings accounts. Build a popular website.

... Get paid under the table? Create a company based outside of the States, then build websites/online services? There are plenty of ways to make money, trust me.

If you can make a trading account with a bank, then the stock market is a goooooood way to make money, (or lose it if you dont play your cards right), trust me on that one.

stock market is good...especially after taking some econ classes.

i used to make money doing all of the f reeipod sites and stuff. i would get the ipod or whatever freebie i received and sell it on ebay. i made about $2000 in a couple of months.

umm, dumb question, but I'm an international, so bear with me. How exactly do you put stuff on sale at ebay? And how do you make a good profit outta it?

If you have some sort of capital to begin with a good idea would be to get into buying and selling concert tickets and other events on ebay. For the most part if you get tickets through either a pre-sale or student discount you can sell them for quite a profit.

oooh... there was a not good episode on svu about college kids gambling instead of doing work study. anyone seen it? i thought it was only okay, scary though.

Just a heads-up: The House just passed a bill making most online gamble illegal, which means that (if the Senate agrees) credit card companies will not be allowed to transfer money to online casino sites. It's anyone's guess as to how well this will be enforced, but it is something to keep in mind.

yup i read that in the paper yesterday. almost all of the online gambling companies are outside the US but over half of the customers are from the US. they will probably just tax people now.

what about selling items on ebay

if you can get under the table clothes from a wholeseller from china, get on ebay and make some $$$

How much money would you suggest to start with for stocks??

If anybody wants to start playing online poker, I can set you up with $50 free...You gotta be 18 though...

whats the $50 free?

50 in chips.

... As much as possible... the more money you invest, the more you get in return (or lose.) Also, the more money you have in your account, the more you can invest and not be overly-fearful of losing everything. For instance, say you have $100. You can go for a penny stock and buy a couple thousand shares, maybe $90 worth. If that penny stock goes under, or simply dies... well your screwed. It would be safe to put in $20 or $30 in that stock, and if you lose it... then hell you lose it.

I started with $10,000 a few years ago (I saved money up from modelling), and my account is in the 100k range (wont say exact amount..) With stocks, you win some and you lose some "/ ... But it definately helps to have more money available to invest.

For where to get an account though.. I use schwab personally.
