Malaga, Salamanca, Sevilla

I’m looking to study abroad in Malaga, Salamanca, or Sevilla for a semester through ISA in the fall semester of my junior year. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which city would be best for a study abroad experience?

I studied in Salamanca, and can’t imagine a better abroad trip even tho I did one in Costa Rica before that. Andalusia gets very hot, both Sevilla and Malaga are in Andalusia. I stopped in Sevilla for two days and even at night it felt like was in an oven, it was around july.

The positives are Sevilla has a few weekend trips leaving out of it, cant think of the company right now, I went to Lagos Portugal from sevilla, they also have trips to Morroco. My trip through the company was I think around $200. You meet a few mins walk from plaza de espana.

If you will have the funds to leave the city that you are in then Sevilla might be a better option, Malaga and granada are not too far. Salamanca is a great city if you dont plan to leave it, and has one of the most beautiful plaza Mayors. It doesnt have a big city feel, it is a student town. Lots of people from around the world go there to study Spanish, but after a whole semester you might have the urge to leave it to explore other things. I think there will be more to do in Sevilla.

I want to suggest Salamanca, but idk because of your duration Sevilla might be a better option you.

thank you so much for such an in depth, descriptive response! this was really helpful!

Here’s a program I did in Salamanca - tuition is about $3,000 now for the entire year.

Salamanca was awesome. I loved every second I was there and I learned tons. I have actually been back quite a few times to visit - I liked it that much!

Malaga is really great. Right by the sea, plenty to do. If you go in the summer I would choose Malaga over Salamanca.

Here´s a program in Malaga. Tution is less than $2,000 for a semester at the University of Malaga.

For fall semester, I would go to Salamanca! I has a great feel to it because it’s a university town with tons of students - but it’s a European university town - not like a US university town. It´s great.

It will get a bit cold towards winter, but it´s beautiful and a lot of fun.

Have fun!
