I just finished my second semester at the University of Richmond. I am in the top 9 percent of all male students, dean’s list, 3.56 gpa. My course load; heavy concentration in science and math. (my SAT’s 2040 took them in 2011) Last semester I declared cellular biology as my major. The academic part of Richmond and teachers are great. However, I am not happy there. I want to be closer to my family and looking for a fresh start. I want to transfer to UPENN Nursing School so that I can finish up my degree and pursue a career in nursing or have the foundation to take the mcats. I would have to take a year off (my father is ill and I want to be around and at this point I almost have to). Looking for advice on what I can do this year. What are my chances of getting in as a male? And do you think I would be throwing away a strong foundation, by not returning to UR. My parents are upset, but they also understand.
