Male + Female Roommates?

I have always wanted to advise a male writer to include the phrase, "I assume that you're a guy," and for females, "I assume that you're a female."

Wanting to live with a member of the opposite sex is a positive development in the maturation of young adults. It is an effective way of learning about the other sex, whether you are gay, straight, bi or transgender, and it is part and parcel of becoming a grown person in this world. People can choose to do this through campus dorms (if the university allows co-ed living) or by bypassing this system of living and renting with multiple roommates of both sexes in units near campus.

I know a lot of kids who live in “co-ed” off campus apartments. They seem to be doing just fine.

I was just about to say, what a cool username. And these blog posts are yet another interesting turn in the way CC is run…

This is actually an auto-post from Dave Berry’s blog. The original post can be found here: http://www.collegeconfidential.com/admit/male-female-roommates/.

This is just a way to further interconnect the CC community with the traditional “info” side of CC. If you visit the link I provided you will see all of our posts displaying as comments (including this one, which will sound a bit funny in that context).

And another thing…the username on this system account has been altered to “CC Articles”. Okay, back to the discussion on the original topic here :)

In my dorm, we shared suites with members of the opposite sex. Your roommate, if you had one, was always of your own gender, but the room next to you could be a guy if you were a girl, and you guys shared bathroom and kitchen space. Three out of four years, my only guy suitemates were gay. Living with straight guys, when I did, was no more of an issue. Since graduation, I’ve shared a two bedroom/1 bathroom apartment with a guy for about 6 months.
