Just wondering if gender or something like that could help u get into college just like being a minority and how much could it help u

Yes.

Especially being male. That actually helps a lot.

It depends. At the UMich, this sub group is given preference. Probably some other schools too.

Colleges generally want a student body that is close to 50/50 so I believe it will help. A quick look at the common data set for MIT will tell you that the acceptance rate for women is about double that of men. Regardless, you will likely stand out more in a crowd of the opposite gender.

Don’t underestimate the difficulty of nursing school admissions however. There’s a shortage of instructors (despite the demand for new nurses) – so a bottleneck has been created. Plus with so much job losses in the economy, many people are trying to laterally switch into nursing. Good luck to you.

dam so is it increase your chances like almost being a native american lol? or like even at big state schools

Oh it definitely helps! The number of males who want to go into nursing is so few that nursing schools want to get more in!

Yes, men are URMs in nursing programs.
