Man, I can't wait to get out of this hell hole. Acne, awkward crushes, mood swings and wacky hormones, teachers who rule their classroom like a little North Korea, never knowing if you'll be expected to act like an adult or a child, wasted nights, first-time driving, over protective parents, and homework...gahhh!!!!!!

It pays to be asexual. ;)

With that title you make it sound like high school was good and that you will miss it.
(Actually, I think the only people that miss HS are those who had overactive social lives that were very successful in friendship and sexual attainment and enjoyment.)

I read a good book once that pointed out that the people who love high school--their lives have peaked at 17. The rest of us actually have something to look foward to past who got "prom queen".

Hyperactive social life ≠catty, stupid, and not having a bigger picture of life
My mother is a rather good explanation of this, as is hotpiece101.

Yea, I have to agree, you really did make it sound like it was the best time, though I really loved my high school years, though they went by considerably fast, though the best thing about high school is looking forward to college, so yeah, though what's wrong about thinking about the prom court being a prince myself :)

Yeah, I thought this was going to be a nostalgia thread too.

IMO, the ones who enjoy high school are the ones who attend with the goal of getting the most out of it while they're there. Learning, sports, friendships, randomness--etc. Sure, you should think ahead to college and beyond--but you have to take care of the present first.

High school was awesome--well, at least senior year. The rest was pretty cool too.

I'm glad it's over.

I like this line.

The rest of us actually have something to look foward to past who got "prom queen".

Sadly, in some schools, that is all there ever is-usually places were high school is it. There is no future of learning, just taking up a job nearby and slowly waiting for life to end as one wile away your best years. It is in these schools where cliques are rife and dominate everything, and the best sports team (usually football) is its center.

I have never been to a school football game. They are a big thing at my school...even though the team wasn't too hot.

I never had much school spirit.

neither did, do i.

The above is why I was not too surprised to find sarorah here...until I learned she was an immigrant.
I am obligated to go to games as a marching band member.

Have fun kman. I am trying to be sincere...seriously.

Hmm, I was the complete opposite myself, going to all the football games, running the snack stand, working crazy for the student council, thought it was definitely one of the better times of high school.

I did things...just outside of school and class council. I should say most things because I was involved with one club at school.

I cared as much about the football team as they cared about us on the cross country team--enough to keep up on how well we did, but not enough to go to a game on the weekend.

I would watch a little bit of the home lacrosse games from track practice--if only to marvel at how good they were this year (#1 in the country). I would line up to run a 600 or something (boy did I hate those), and by the time I finished sucking air, they would have scored like three goals. I watched the conference championship--well, I left at halftime because the score was already 10-2.

My school pride was more geared towards the teams I was on (IAC and Metro champs in XC, woot!--and we won at William and Mary)--selfish? Yeah, but that's just how I was in that regard.

i agree with kman.
im looking forward to college hoping that it is something like what they show in the movies. lol. but seriously i just want to get out, try new things, meet new people and live it to the fullest while at the same time getting a good edu. feel me?

Those were not just movies, that was reality at many schools in SE Ohio (at least in 1998).

Yeah, graduation day will be the happiest day of my life. For me its been one hell of a six years (7-12), I'll be gladly to leave these people, this building, and the school's atmosphere in general.

fortunately for me, highschool here is only 3 years. and so far the first 2 have been a living hell. but i don't want it to be over, i like being a teen, i want to stay 15 4ever.
