let's check the open sections feature on telebears. Oh nice, 60 spots available. Drop a class because your units are full. Go to add class and you're waitlisted number 50, nice.

And I haven't done this one yet, but I will eventually:

After I get waitlisted, I drop the waitlisted one, then I go back and add the original one and I'm waitlisted for that at 50.

I don't understand why they don't update in real time. I give this school so much money every year and they can't even make something like this decent? **** this school.

EDIT: How does the waitlist work? Is it automatically updated? Or does it update for everyone at some random time?

ALWAYS click the link at the bottom of the schedule.berkeley.edu listing for current enrollment and course restrictions. That does give a real time view.

I think that’s been glitchy too. It claims there’s spots in some sections of one class, but then Telebears doesn’t allow me to waitlist myself in any of the sections. And why am I number 86 on a waitlist (Telebears) when the Schedule says the waitlist limit for lecture is 80? Gah.

Rider is right, Ankur, you should check the “Click here for current enrollment information and course restrictions link at all times,” it’s your fault for not checking that.

Most California schools (CC, CSU, other UCs) have it a lot worse than we do. I think Berkeley is getting more funding because we’re the flagship school.

If the link we mentioned shows spots but you can’t register, it is a manual waitlist class that has been locked by the department, stopping anyone from ‘jumping’ over the waitlist queue and registering directly. Happens with Bio 1A/L for example.
