so angry at waitlists! how can they do this?

okay so ive talked to all my friends at other UCs like Berkeley and Irvine, and nobody else had to go through this!
everything. its all full!

does anyone know why its like this at ucsd? i mean dont know they know theres x many kids in this major and x many of kids in [insert name] college and should open up enough classes for us?

if its this bad today, i dont even think i'll get 12 units when i try to sign up tomorrow.

sorry for sounding so mean. im just frustrated.

i totally understand your rant! my reg time is tmrw too. and chem 6B is COMPLETELY full!! and im majoring in chemistry…soooo i kind of really need it :/

@californiagurl92 samee majoring biochem/chem but there’s no hopes of taking chem this quarter haha
there’s always next quarter!

I understand your rant too paperhearts0, all my friends are shocked that UCSD is doing class regs so late and in this manner X:

The could still open up more spots in classes.

The professors say they will open up more spots for Chem 6A. Just be patient.

My counselor said:

“Only add yourself to a waitlist if you can be 10 or less. If you do this, the CHEM dept. told us you will be added to the class. If you cannot find any waitlist with 10 or less then you can enroll in physics or a GE.”

hope this helps

^wow, my counselors repeatedly said stuff like, " I still see room. Waitlist the class, I’m sure you’ll get in." unhelpful stuff like that … :\ thank you so much!

unfortunately every waitlist for CHEM 6A is at least 10 already, and there’s still sept 3 people waiting.

Is Chem the only course that they’re opening up spots like this for? They should open up a few spots for some of the the math classes :D

haha i think they’ll only open up spots for chem, cuz EVERY chem class (chem6a, chem6ah, chem6b) is FULL, regardless of good professors and bad, and sept 3-5 freshman didnt even register yet…

**For Chem 6AH, I talked with the Chem dept. and they told me that they will make sure every single person waitlisting Chem 6AH will get into a Chem 6AH class 100%
Anyways, now I just have to balance DOC and Math 20B which almost everything is already full…

RyanMuir did you ask them about Chem 6A regular as well?

adl0816, no I’m sorry I did not as I passed the AP Chem test with a 4 (meaning Chem 6a wouldn’t count for anything if I took it). Your best bet would be to call them tomorrow (I think they open at like 9 am). Good Luck!

Ahh dang okay.

It’s funny how the counselors suggest you take physics, but many people won’t be able to take it unless they have already taken math 20A, or passed out of it…

after thinking about it, the workload for physics seemed to be too much since ill be taking 5 classes, so I just dropped it and waiting #12 for chem 6A :D

hope they do something about it!

I thought the physics requirement was concurrent enrollment in math20A. Then again, I only skimmed through the course descriptions…hope all of you get your classes! >__< I registered on the second day and still had no chance at getting what everyone calls the “good” professors.

My friends at UC Davis did have the same problem with their chem classes though–one of them is waitlisted at #5 and the other, at #13. :stuck_out_tongue: It’s not just UCSD!

Well, finally my registration window opened. I am in on one class Math 20C, and wait listed on three others - ECE15 ( > 40) , CHEM6A (> 11), and Warren writing 10A (>2).

Never expected to end up this way. I can possibly get a GE in later on if nothing on the wait list clears, but I doubt if could find one that easy. Is this how it is going to be every quarter? The fees keep going up but we still can’t get the classes.

I’m not sure if it starts next quarter or next year but I think they go by people with more credits get to choose first or something? I think I read that on here somewhere so it’s not going to be random anymore. Thank God

^next quarter

Yeah, the first quarter registration date is random. Afterwards, enrollment times will be based on the number of cumulative units one has.
