MARCAS 2018

I know that a couple of CCers have mentioned MARCAS auditions this year. Just curious as to who’s going, and maybe we can meet up & say hello while we are there. S is registering tonight…VERY EXCITED!

My D will be there, but my husband will be taking her. I am guessing that he will just keep to himself as he’s not really a social butterfly. haha.

My D is going, but likely just with my wife. She’ll also likely keep to herself - although she’s friendly if someone approaches her to say hi.

Has anyone here participated in MARCAS in previous years. I am curious to know how the process was for them

I was trying to find a list of the schools on their website but the 2018 is no longer listed and it says to check back for 2019. We’re about 6.5 hours away but like the idea of auditioning in November in a smaller environment before Chicago. Does anyone have a list of the schools from this year? My daughter isn’t casting that wide a net. She wants to just choose to apply to schools she would really want to go to and take a gap if she needs to rather than make sure she gets in “somewhere”.

@absehamom I would be very interested to see that list also

@absehamom @Notmath1 I happened to have my spreadsheet with me…This may not be the complete list, but it’s what I have from 2018 MARCAS for Musical Theatre. The list of schools for Dance auditions was different.

Arcadia U, Atlantic Acting School, Averett U, Centenary U, Coker College, DeSales U, East Carolina U, Elizabethtown College, Emory & Henry College, Farleigh Dickinson U, Ferrum College, Florida Southern Coll, Greensboro Coll, Indiana U of PA, Juniata Coll, Kean U, LIU/Post, Manhattan School of Music, Niagara U, Rider U (they were on the list, but I don’t recall them being there), Rowan U, Savannah School of Design, Southern Methodist U, Stevenson U, Studio School LA, Temple U (Don’t recall seeing them there), U Tampa, U West Florida, West Virginia U, Wilkes U & York MT Training Program.

Rider was on the list, but we know they weren’t there this year.

Slippery Rock University was also there. Not sure about Temple.

@lithpool Thanks for sharing your spreadsheet! It looks like schools from all over. Great opportunity. Did they post call backs and re-audition?

@Notmath1 Yes, they posted callbacks, but it was to chat, not any extra material. With each school the responses were varied. 2 schools that S had already applied and been accepted to academically accepted him into their BFA programs based off of the audition. Most others were discussions about their programs, financial info, the schools, etc., and others asked to audition another time for scholarship $, (w the assumption that academic acceptance would be forthcoming if he applied). It was a great first dip in the proverbial audition pool.

Thank you!
