March 12 - Official SAT - General Discussion IS open

for the hmong passage, i said he wanted to observe and gain insight.

i also said winston churchill sentence was no error..

--- I got those too.

I'm ... majorly mad at myself right now. for the lowest value of y question, I was thinking integers only, and I put 3. darnit.

sigh.

There were points P and Q and said the midpoint was point S. It said that one of the segments was 19 in total and 10 for another one. I know thats vague, but don't really remember much else besides that. I hope that can jog your memory.

I got 5/8. 3/8 was the portion that was unshaded.

Both x and y are 2.5 to be optimal....to have the smallest y.

You can simply the quesiton to be 4xy = 25 (i belive)...easier to work with from there.

It is 17 garrity. I am positive.

"I got 5/8. 3/8 was the portion that was unshaded."

do you remember the actual question? i don't remember what i put.

Oh, and I also got 5/8 for the area question.

the area proportion one i think was 5/8 or .625

Crap. I put the wrong portion (3/8 instead of 5/8)...

Let's talk about the passage about the old lady and her successful writer daughter.

I got that the one statement implied a criticism,

the people in the bar showed more respect or something for themselves than the woman,

that perplex meant to entangle,

that the last paragraph shows that the woman continues to feel out of place,

and that the statement at the beginning shows that she is not ready to move to this new place, or something along those lines

yeah, garrity the answer for that is 17

i think when described as a child it shows shw is out of place, sort of.

The thing in the beginnning was that she longed for beauty...

perplex meant to trouble

the times when she did kindness were only forgotten.

the statement implied a crticism.

aab, for some reason that one and the "x^2 < x^3 , x" (seemed like b or c) question got me confused, every other one seemed pretty good.

I guess no one else had the same problem that I did with that question , haha.

the people in the bar showed more respect or something for themselves than the woman, -- i don't get it. i though all the choices were bad.

yeah it was 5/8...anyways the curve i posted a while ago was the following:

Raw Score-Scaled Score
Math:54-800, 53-790, 52-760, 51-740, 50-720, 49-710, 48-700, 47-680, 46-670...and so forth

Critical Reading: 67-800, 66-800, 65-790, 64-770, 63-750, 62-740, 61-730, 60-720, 59-700, 58-690, 57-690, 56-680...and so forth

Writing: 73 to 69- 800, 68-780, 67-770, 66-760, 65-750, 64-740, 63-730, 62-720, 61-710, 60-700, 59-700, 58-690, 57-680...and so forth

Grammer Sub Score: 49-80, 48-80, 47-80, 46-79, 45-78, 44-76, 43-74, 42-73....and so forth

the people in the bar forgot the old woman's past acts of kindness.

yeah. So I just took the SAT today, and the essay really really sucked for me. When I calculated when the "TIME!" would be called for the essay, I calculated 35 minutes NOT 25 (bleh...) So I was writing my 3rd body paragraph when time was called (no conclusion, no 1/3 of 3rd paragraph, and incomplete thesis cuz I was going to finish it later). That ruined the beginning of the test, but the math and all else were easy. (pretty sure 800 for math, 700ish for verbal).

What score does an incomplete essay get? I know I will be retaking, but will the colleges look at only the best scores from each section (like they used to do) or.... should i just cancel my score?
Thanks!

I have the same as HELTAHR, except i put perplex meant to trouble.

the old woman passage was tricky. hope it's experimental...

I think the writing is going to be curved by a lot...cuz it has the nicest curve in the blue "official" guide...
