March 12 - Official SAT - General Discussion IS open

Bump Bump Bump Please

The math was harder, I guess. The one with the pails...not sure on that one; why did n have to be greater than one? I believe I put c for the answer.

Verbal, on the other hand...

There wasn't lugubrious or dirge, which were from the official pamphlet. I think it was mostly in sync with the practice tests.

call forth is the only one that makes sense

Haha, well, the counselor at the public school where I took my SAT gave us the Extended Time test instead of the regular test. Although we did not get any extra time and the questions were all the same (except that we did not have a section 10), we have to take the test again in two weeks. Apparently collegeboard is going to quickly grade the tests we took today and give us the scores back in a week. Then they're going to quickly grade our makeup test so they'll be done the same time as everybody else.

It still sucks though, because I felt pretty confident about the entire test.

I had a question on the grammar corrections. One of the sentences talked about "The coral reefs are a home to over 25% of the ocean's animals, yet they are rapidly being destroyed by human activities." I thought that maybe 'but' could have replaced 'yet' since 'yet' sounded a little awkward, but I chose "correct as is" because I thought it was technically correct. Does anyone remember that one?

I believe they gave three points on a circle and asked for the center. Two of the points had the same y value; from this we can figure out its diameter - 6 or something like that. Take the midpoint of the line segment formed by them and you get the center.

I don't remember the coral reefs one.

Yeah, there were a few kids at my center with the extended time test too. One of the people that had it was some kid that seemed to be about 2-3 sections ahead of me all the time. I couldn't help laughing at it but it also made me feel pretty stupid because I was pretty sure I couldn't pull off something like that either. Anyway, he had 9 sections instead of 10, i think. Is that the same extended time type they gave everyone else?

what about the parabola (not the one that was y = x^2 + 2)

do you remeber the coordinates of the center of the circle?

I have noticed the most people have said that the Math section was easy, yet I left 3 sections unfinished, 8 questions, 6 questions, 4 questions blank, respectively on the Math sections. However, I thought the Verbal and Writing weren't as bad? Does anyone else feel this way?

1,1 was the center

lol.. so... any other advice..?

got 2.5 for the last one.. i forget a lot of my answers on the others. if you told me what they were about, then maybe i would be able to help you out.

same, i messed up so much on math, wouldn't be surprised to get a 600

Nuh-uh. I didn't think it was easy.

math was relatively easy...but I only answered 3 student produced responses...

From another thread, I advised anyone who happened to be reading that they should sync their wristwatch with the classroom clock ahead of time. That's because I thought I had five minutes (it said end 9:00 on the board!) when I really had none on the essay.

I was halfway through my last sentence. I like to make (or try to make) a dramatic ending, because it's graded holistically, based on overall opinion, and a nice ending rounds it off. So my essay (with a few scribbles in the last line, as I tried to cross it off but my attempt didn't go so well) ended "Yes, majority opinion is here to stay. But on no occa........."

It was supposed to say "But on no occassion has it shown itself to be an effective guideline."

But then the beeper thing rang, and that was that.

Now, assuming that the rest of my essay was splendid, magnificent, and all that (one can HOPE, right?), how badly will the missing half-sentence affect my essay?

readies self to curl into fetal position

thanks, and i just plugged the perabola question intomy calculator to find y when x=2.

There were only four of us, though, and none of us should have received the Extended Time test.

This is truly ironic, because I was ready to crush the Math section. However, the practice book that I used was completely different from the actual test. How would you feel if you studied forever with a book that was nothing like the actual test. That is how I feel, and it sucks really really bad. :(
