March 12 - Official SAT - General Discussion IS open

I was just wondering because I think my essay was brilliant, but I just wanted to know sorta what the odds are of getting a 6 on the essay?

I didn't take it today. I probably won't take it till next spring. Right now I need to focus on the ap exam coming up in 54 days. I haven't studied at all. Studying for the ap us history exam is more boring than the topic itself. :(

One of the grid-ins...I forgot which one (I think #10). Which is the answer? If it's not 200 could someone post the problem for me...I forgot but dont care if I got it right! =) Thanks!

Me! I found myself writing "Howard Roark, architect and protaganist of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead" an awful lot on my various practice essays, and it didn't change on the real one. That book was the epitome of individual right, majority wrong.

For the grid-ins, I am positive the answer was 200 and 75 and not 66.6...unless I made some grievous error in reading...

sells papers

For all those that got the Majority prompt, where do you live? That was a prompt for the last PR Diag! ARGH! Stupid creativity prompt...

The official practice book gives you ranges; for instance, 670-750 or something along those lines. The pamphlet's curves were thus for reading:

800, 800, 790, 770, 750, 740, 720, 720, 700, 690,...

And for the writing MC subscore (don't want to get into the essay...complicated)

80, 80, 80, 79, 78, 76, 74, 73, 71, 70, 69, ...

I don't expect it to deviate greatly. The math curve was harshest of all.

i'm done taking the SAT I . But, i have the SAT I 11 Tests by Princton Review. If i just keep taking those practice tests (writing section only), would it be exactly the same?

I thought the question asked about squirrels from 1990-1999 or something. I put 200 since 5400=(3)^3, 3 being the "triple" the 2nd 3 being "tripling every THREE years" and 5400 your end result.

And why would you have 66.6 squirrels anyway?

Or was the squirrel question a m/c and not gridin?

Anyone who had problems with the proctors and time need to tell tell the school where you took the test. They need to know.

You can drop them a note or even send one to the college board. It will not affect your scores or anything, but can help you next time. The proctors are paid (usually) and should be told they did a not so great job. And if the pages are stuck together, etc, that info should be shared with the College Board. You aren't b&&ching about your scores, just bad testing experience.

Anyway, have some chococate, you got through today!!!

Yeah, it was 200, because you can't have 66.6 squirrels, which you would have gotten if you had divided by three one more time. Remember, they tripled every 3 years. I am absolutely POSITIVE that the squirrel grid-in question was 200.

1990-200 squirrels
1991-200+
1992-200+
1993-600 squirrels
1994-600+
1995-600+
1996-1800 squirrels
1997-1800+
1998-1800+
1999-5400 squirrels

OK. Everyone is asking which section was the experimental section. I have heard more guesses than there were sections on the test. It really shouldn't be hard to figure out. I'll list the ones I know to be part of the real test and somebody can take it from there.

Essay
Student Response
Theater passage
Old Lady Passage
Telephone Company Question
Cloning

By the way, some great examples for the essay are the rise of fascism in Europe and Ayn Rand's novel Anthem.

hope this removes all doubts. This was one of the easiest questions, because it simply required common sense. You can't have 2/3 of a squirrel. The answer had to be a whole integer.

no i didn't mean you, for the people that predict 2300+'s now, and are writing in an arrogant tone, like saying certain things were a joke

haha forgot the question...66.6 squirrels is pretty funny, but i did see several people post it! thanks for the reassurance!

For cheating, eating, drinking, talking during test, etc.?

Jeez, this place has fewer responses than the Dave Matthews Band forum (zing!)

oops... i posted in the wrong page... :(

Yes. I was ejected for streaking. It was pretty funny. I was paid 300 dollars to go in, take 3 sections, and begin eating and drinking. When the procter walked over, I started to look at other people's papers and make the motions of copying and then started to sing. I think took off all of my clothes (bought the night before to minimize risk of being caught) and then ran out of the room. (I had a fake ID mind you)

Ok, I have a question from the old woman passage, and it seems everyone has had no difficulty with whatsoever. It was one of the first questions, why does she say she "never expected" to live in such a beautiful place? I put that she had a need for such beauty, or something like that. Why is everyone saying she was unprepared to live there?
