March 12 - Official SAT - General Discussion IS open

Listen Zack. If you have a passage that someone else doesn't have, that passage is experimental. Think about it. Every test set of 9 standard sections plus one experimental section. If you have one I don't, then that section is experimental.

So, I can logically say that Section 7 was experimental for those that had FOUR math sections. With 1 being essay, 2 being grid-ins, etc.

The answer to the cube is 24. It didn't ask what planes make 90 degree angles, it asked which edges. Edges only make angles when they intersect at vertices. As everyone has said, 6 faces * 4 angles or 8 vertices * 3 angles = 24.

Woohoo the cube one.
It was like, 36, 24, etc.
I chose 24. Just draw a cube, or use your logic--4 right angles times 6 faces.

Hey, what did you guys say for the revitalizaiton of cultural centers question that asked what the passage implied the destruction of the theaters and that stuff was equivalent to?

did you say it was "equivalent to the loss of a cultural legacy" or something along those lines

the destruction was tantamount to the culture.
Yep, should be right.

newyorker, that was me. you're sure it's 7 and not 8? do you remember which one had the fish tank questiohn? lol, i'm freaking out cause i got one wrong...i'm a bit of a perfectionist

I'm not sure. Maybe 7 0r 8. Answer to that was two.

yes, that much i know, heh.

so perplex means entangle or trouble???

um - i got something else, maybe astound

b/c she used her housework to give a purpose to her life, whatever, and now she's bored..... crap. did i get that one wrong?

Look, it's entangle. Entangle here means to wrapped in one's work. Forget what the dictionary says. Replace the answer you think it is into the original sentence. Would the author say that the author left her mother with nothing to astound or trouble her. That clearly doesn't fit into the context of the lines preceding and following it. It has to be entangle.

hha thanks thats waht i got heltahir

entangle means trap though, would you ever say "i'm bored, there's nothing to entangle me"?

Sorry, but what was the question that yielded an answer of 66.6 on the free-response math?

thta wasnt an answer - answer was 200 i think for that one

For the essay, I too had the majority one. I disagreed with it, saying the majority was not always righht.

My examples were William Golding's "Lord of the Flies", South's secession during the civil war, and michael jordan being cut from his basketball team (couldn't think of a third one so this was a stretch).

The Lord of the Flies one worked perfectly, because the main character Ralph is the only sane and mature one on the island, while all the other kids focused on playing and enjoying their time there. He yelled at them and told them to build a fire, yet they laughed him off and didn't take him seriously. When a plane flew by, there was no signal fire so they were not saved. The boys ended up turning against him and try to murder him at the end.

The civil war I talked about how the south had the majority of the people, and they seceded against Abraham Lincoln's rule. Lincoln was right, and said that it was illegal for the south to secede, yet they did it anyways.

Michael Jordan was a stretch, I just said that he was cut from his varsity basketball team and the majority (coaches and peers) laughed him off and did not take him seriously. This caused his motivation and he was actually right, when he came back the next year and ultimately became the most revolutionary athlete in history.

I made some real good connections in the civil war and lord of the flies, so I am hoping for a 6 or maybe a 5.

5 wrong in critical reading u think 750?

The squirrels in the park whose numbers tripled every three years. It was 200. You can't have 66 and two thirds of a squirrel, unless a cat came by and bit one's head off.

What was the math free response question that had 10 for an answer?
