<p>A lot of colleges (including collegeboard) said that the deadline for the 2009 federal tax return is March 1st. Does that mean that the form needs to be in their hands by March 1st or can i put it in the the mailbox in March 1st. My parents need time to complete their form and it probably won't be in their hands until late Feb/early March. Thanks</p>

<p>I suspect you didn’t mean this…but “college board” is not a college. </p>
<p>Are your colleges requesting that you send your completed tax returns? If so, contact the colleges and ask them. Some schools will understand your issue and others will be firm on their deadlines (these deadlines have been on MOST finaid websites since fall…and there is an expectation that deadlines will be met at many places).</p>
<p>If you are talking about the IDOC deadline, I honestly don’t know what to tell you…remember, your stuff gets sent to IDOC, and then to the colleges. This takes time.</p>
<p>Again the schools will be your best source of info on this deadline issue.</p>
<p>In any event…try to meet the deadlines for things in the future…everything…deadlines are set for a reason.</p>
