March 2012 SAT I Critical Reading Thread

OK, thanks! I was unsure on two questions, but I completely forgot them. One of them was #13 in the entire section. :(

@jimmypod

I got the same thing too. Except I don’t remember the 5. The reformers think the baseball analogy would be: flawed question from the electorate passage. What were the answer choices?

@likeastarr

Ah yes I just remembered the question about the analogy: it was against change. Sweet.

Sorry I cannot help you with that :frowning: The word “flawed” just JUMPED out at my like a fat scuba diver ordering a whopper jr (with diet coke) in hot pink gear.

CR was terrible for me. if i omitted like 3 and got maybe 7 wrong what do you think my score would be?

“sawdust
the mill owner responds to the author with humor
the cousins are miniscule particles
the sahara desert analogy shows the absurdity of the job
the use of the word insidious suggests that inanimate particles are conniving
the description shows that the author is beginning to dislike the mill
the mention of specific knowledge serves to highlight the author’s feelings of isolation
the author enjoyed the work”
i dont remember anyof these whole thing lol…did I totally miss a passage??? ***…

@satmaster13
690ish?

http://www.erikthered.com/tutor/SAT-Released-Test-Curves.pdf

also steven i think that passage was experimental. or i forgot a whole passage xD

@eagles 94 and others

does ANYONE remember the 5. The reformers think the baseball analogy would be: flawed question? I don’t remember it like at all… and I’m getting paranoid. I hope I actually did that question. Anyone remember answer choices?

@steve
The sawdust passage did not exist, I had the experimental CR and didn’t see it

@satmaster

640 ish

@likeastarr

It was a very insignificant question (probably a level 2 on the scale of 1-5)

That’s probably why you don’t remember it too well. You just BAM!~ RIGHT ANSWER’d it and forgot about it :)

drac313!!! thanks so much lol…there was guy posting that answer, and i was like …holy… did i skip a paragraph???

@jimmy
Haha, I almost got that one and some other really easy question wrong on the passage because I was over thinking it…thank god I changed it!

what was 132 thing for the transition? was that the “why” question one?

gesture or indication for the signs question on the passage about the girl’s family member that was ridiculed?

@drac313

We meet again since last time! xD How did you feel overall about your SAT this time?

So far I’m -1 to -3 O_o. Did we ever come to a consensus on the chest question? I put vital. That was my first passage question, so I started freaking out haha

it was “But the number…” which referred to the 132, and it transitioned to his college professor saying that “there are 10,000 bad paintings in you… the sooner you get them out, the better”.

cehme- I put indication.

@Cheme, I put indication.

The analogy one for the electoral college was: what would the critics think of the “rules of the game” and I’m pretty sure it was that they thought it was flawed.

Yeah, i put “vital” for the chest. it was either that or “sinister”, but i ruled out “sinister” because the passage said “dark” and “tiger claws” in reference to the chest, so isn’t that sinister imagery? I didn’t really know how a chest could be vital…
