March 2012 SAT I Critical Reading Thread

I put superlative, but i guessed so idk. it was about loyalty right?

was one of the answers polemical or emotional?

What did the dress thing represent? An intergenerational connection, right?

Sent from my Desire HD using CC

yes, intergenerational was correct

^yep i put in. connection.

The one with 23 questions was experimental. I can’t remember which one it was, though.

Lol it has to be intergenerational connection because it’s about Chinese heritage and whatnot. Also, at the end, the author used the word “connect” so…

I think the fisheries was the experimental section?

novelidea
Yeah, polemical was one of them.

Another Q about the electoral college - what was the one about the response the author of P2 would give to the “advocates” (or maybe it was “critics”) in P1? One of the choices was something about the cost of counting the popular vote, and I put the one with cross-section of voters or something.

@gossamer peremptory, i believe. only because i eliminated the other four, though

could someone let me know what experimental means…??

yeah i think you got that right

@wynter.

The answer was peremptory. It fit perfectly if you knew the definition.

which question was the answer peremptory? and what were the other choices?

wynter
I had it down to that and jaded. /sigh/ I was thinking of the wrong connotation of “peremptory”.

The SAT has one section of one of the three topics (math, writing, reading) that is “experimental”, meaning it doesn’t count in your score. It’s there for them to test new questions. You don’t know which one it is when you’re taking it, but if you compare with other people after the test, you can easily figure out which was your experimental since not everyone has the same one.

The passage about how literary writing is a an experience that starts out with an excerpt from a novel by Dan something was experimental.

I put that passage two was more Cavalier, he was saying that the whole debate was useless and if people knew what the college was they would be fine with it,

Did anyone get implacable for an answer to SC? And was the writin is fighting section controversial?

Oh and whaaaat is polemical?

@yankeesfanatic

The question was about a teacher who was really strict and the children wouldn’t misbehave? Or something like that.

The other choices were jaded and superlative.
I can’t remember any others :/

Electoral college one was very easy for me because I found their arguments very logical? =S. Well I was able to follow through their points, so questions was easy. Space was easy for me, since I like science and understood what they’re talking about… The Chinese grandmother was also easy for me since I’m Chinese so I didn’t lose interested and doze off lol.

meatkabob that was peremptory.

Peremptory was for teacher right?

Yeah. Peremptory, lol that it was one of my school vocab words
