***March 2016 SAT (US Only) Thread*** |New Redesigned SAT Discussion Thread

I called and was barely able to understand the person who told me scores would be released throughout the day. None of the kids in the room my son took his test in have gotten their scores yet.

So, thoughts on the test’s difficulty compared to the old test?

@joewantstoknow i think it’s harder

@Bse15578 Dang… I struggled enough with the old test. Taking the new one June 4, hoping it’s easier for me.

@joewantstoknow good luck! I thought it was harder mostly because of the cruel curve and less “free points” questions

The consensus seems to be that a new SAT’s score is less valuable than an equal score on the old SAT. According to the converter app, my old SAT score (1950/1300) equates to a 1380 on the new one. Would a converted 1380 give me any better footing than a 1300 or not, since it’s the same thing?

Can someone post 50% percent for math and verbal? Please

@Bse15578 Thank you. I haven’t prepped much yet since my last test was in late Feb, but I’ll try to make due with what little time I have left. I really wish the test hadn’t changed. Hoping I can slightly improve my math score.

@kitty11 according to the converter, a 500 in all sections of the old SAT equates to 560 verbal 530 math on the new one.

dang did okay on the MC section…BUT THAT ESSAY DANNGG’(bad dang…that’s a bad dang)

Thx. Is that based on mar. 16 actual scores?

@GettingRekt would you say you got rekt?

@GettingRekt - Here, too! Does anyone know if bad essay scores will hurt much???

@kitty11 np. I’m not sure what else CB would base the conversion on since May scores haven’t been released yet, so most likely imo

@minnemama Thankfully I don’t think any of my desired colleges require essays so I chose not to take it. I hope I’m not wrong and I end up taking the test next month for nothing

are there concordance tables for the essay part too? how do we compare the essay score?

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if some schools accept only the ACT for next year’s admissions. We’ll see.

@loriyacht ;~; what about those unfortunate enough to have a relatively baseline high school education, rendering them less competent for the ACT than for the SAT…?

I got a 1400 (97% good or bad? idk). Planning to retake bc I didn’t think I did as well as I possibly could’ve.

@joewantstoknow - it won’t make a difference. If you really practice at home with the ACT (use the real tests) you will get better. If you don’t have a strong hs background, that will hurt you in either test. But practice will help if you are dedicated.
