^ not accurate. Some schools require all scores. Don’t retake. You have an excellent score.
Really? I was not aware of that, our College advisor told us you do not have to send all scores!
You need to look closely at the application requirements for each school. Some require your entire testing history, especially the selective schools.
@kit4kat - check [this College Board .pdf](https://secure-media.collegeboard.org/digitalServices/pdf/professionals/sat-score-use-practices-participating-institutions.pdf) out for the correct information on college score choice policy.
Thank you, this is very helpful. Some Colleges say send version 1 and others say send version 2, what is the difference between version 1 and 2, what does that mean? Yes, I do see some Colleges sat send all scores!
@kit4kat - the document explains version 1 and version 2 on page 4. It’s also worth noting that the document is a few years old and may not be exactly correct for every school–I use it as a quick reference, and if I need to be completely certain about any schools, go to their sites and double-check to be sure.
Best of luck!
ps: since you wrote “this is very helpful,” I feel inclined to point out that CC has a convenient button to express that sentiment
When deciding if you should take a test again, it probably is important to know what schools are your top choices. For example, if U Penn, Georgetown, and Stanford are in your top three, they want everything so unless you think you can go up, it might be a little risky. But many equally or more selective schools allow you to use score choice. And some want writing and some don’t. So I would make a chart of who wants what (including subject tests) and come up with your testing strategy based on that. Unfortunately, every school has a different spin on this topic so you need to just go with your top choices’ use of scores to guide you in what to do.
As for moving on to subject test prep, I think that’s a good idea as long as your top choices actually want them.
And as for going for a 1600 if you have a 1550…that’s a tough call. But I would stop short of saying a top school would value those scores equally. When looking at something as objective as numbers, it’s kind of hard to ignore if someone has a higher score than someone else, assuming all other things are comparable. These schools have so many qualified applicants and I’m sure the decisions sometimes come down to some kind of hair-splitting data point. So if you think you can get the perfect score and your top choices use score choice, I don’t see the risk in going for it, unless you have to sacrifice preparing for subject tests or something else that is important. You can also cancel your score if you feel that after you took it it wasn’t your best day.
Good luck there - is so much to sort out, just do your best and don’t look back!
Will there be an updated concordance table anytime soon? I don’t know if I should trust the table considering ACT literally called them out on it. I’m not sure how good my 1460 is anymore.
@class0f2017 A 1460 is about the same as a solid 32 on the ACT.
@ZealousScholar Yeah I saw the concordance table but the ACT company said the tables aren’t accurate.
I scored a 1450 (730 CR&W, 720Math), with a 21/24 for the essay (all 7’s). According to the concordance tables this is equivalent to a 2080. Should I retake the SAT or take the ACT senior year if I want to get into Stanford (50th percentile is 2210)?
@marccoreus11 Idk. 1450 seems like a really good score for me. I don’t know but I feel like the conversion from new sat to old sat is sort of flawed like cmon now lol. Why can’t it be just precise ratios like 1450 on the new sat = 2400 x 1450/1600 = boutg 2180…
@marccoreus11 what percentile was your 1450?
Yep. That score is good, so congrats, but it is definitely low for Stanford.
If i have a perfect sat subject and reasoning score but 3.00 gpa in Junior year (i still dont have me senior year grade) , good ec and research paper .
Will i have any chance for Caltech and MIT
I scored a 1440
800 in math
640 in reading
98 percetile national
96 percentile user
is this solid for schools like NYU
Probably not, I’m sorry to say (unless, of course, your research is truly groundbreaking).
@zantheman Did you prepare a lot for the math or did the 800 come easy? Any tips would be appreciated
@marvin100 although i will try my best to make my research groundbreaking (it’s something like an invention i have told u this before) and i am not sure about my gpa since in my country 12 class grades are more important than that of 11th (i can take improve ment exam which can boost my gpa to 3.6 or 3.7) please do suggest some safety schools
Does anyone has any feedback for new Kaplan tests book?
