March SAT Math Thread

@shaheiruddin
Yes, like you said, it’s the same thing.

I’m basing the list off of the consensus of the majority, as I did for the January test. I doubt 30k+ people misread the question and the select few who are arguing for the mean read it correctly.

Then again, you are correct in saying that neither side has any actual proof. I’m content to wait till April 1st.

I’m gonna laugh when Jersey gets an 800.

9/25 = 9/25 in any format. u can put it as a decimal or fraction form and it will be correct.

oh and i unfortunately put 93 aswell…

Jericho High School. Top 100 public schools in the nation. There is a split house between median and mean. Kids swearing they saw one or the other. Clearly, there is a much larger community than just college confidential in terms of the “top 2-3%” of the nation. And I don’t understand why this easy question would have misleading wording.

Mean is something I learned around 5th or 6th grade. Seems like a #6 type question, but it said median.
How is Jericho HS a top 100 school? I can haz proofz?

I believe more people are aggravated by GMABCD specifically because of his decision to change a consolidated list that CCers worked on for over 50 hours. Other people have brought up the subject of whether the question was mean/median and were not met with similar hostility.

Really? What about avidstudent. Look back a couple hundred posts. I would even be scared to go against that kid.

NOO 0 was not the difference. that was a common trick. it said average PER YEAR over 5 years. not average over 5 years. it was the difference in slopes, not the average in points

gmab, jersey’s gonna get a 2400. Go away. I’m a dumbass and I got that one right.

you guys all got that average per year one wrong. everyone keeps saying its 0. its 50

The answer was clearly 0. There’s nothing to argue here. Go away.

Alright bud keep telling yourself that. Why is there just now controversy @ the 92nd page. Seriously all these new members are ****ing me off. It’s 0.

hey gmab

http://me414.files.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2009/05/ignorance.jpg

It was not the average per year. It was the average number of students attending all 5 years.

I agree. So random.

clearly 0…read the question again next time when you get wrong

@dlwolverines
It’s a trick question in that it tries to make you average out all the data and then subtract, whereas you can easily just notice where they intersect and realize it’s 0.

i specifically read it again for wording. it was, what was the difference in the average per year over the 5 years for the two schools. they wanted you to just average the points

JERICHO??? never heard of that ****. and it was definitely median. it’s harder to mix median for mean than mean for median. also can u guys answer the unconvinced/hilarious question in the critical reading. i’ve been asking forever.
