<p>it was something like: this random bird, like this other bird, lays eggs.</p>

<p>Was it an identifying errors in sentence question? I vaguely remember it.</p>

<p>Was it one of those “pick the best option” or “pick the error”?</p>

<p>@mzargar: sweet that’s what I had. The phrases go by pairs (not only…but also) so the answer is “but also because they…”</p>

<p>I believe the not only… but also because question was something like this:</p>

<p>students like taking the film history class not only because they like watching films for homework, but also because they have heard the professor is good.</p>

<p>Regarding the Indian who “used colloquial English”, I think I put “used” as the wrong answer because you don’t USE English, you speak it. I remember having a similar question on a practice test. I could also be possibly wrong. Thoughts?</p>

<p>You’re wrong. In your post, you USED English, you didn’t speak it.</p>

<p>And also for tense error:
‘Had went —> went (We had planned by doing blah, blah, and blah, but nothing had went as we had expected.)’
It should have been ‘but nothing had gone as we had expected’. Doesn’t really matter because as long as you chose that, then you’re right, but just for record’s sake.</p>

<p>But in the context of the question, I think it was referring to the people who spoke English. I’m not trying to argue, just want to clarify.</p>
