March SAT Writing Thread

I got “Were he to be given…”

I used Hitler and Pol Pot.

I think there was a question where it should have been portraits, not portrayals as the idiomatic error.

Were because you need past subjunctive.

i used hitler and stalin, both of whom are such cliche examples that I won’t be able to impress the graders…

I used Richard Nixon and a completely invented corrupt UAW union leader named Patrick Bateman lol

Ugh. Too many people put Hitler. Now I’m just going to look un-original.

does anyone remember the answer to this question:
The candidate grew increasingly popular among the college students either as a result of…
it was definitely D or E

Do we all agree that Section 10 ended with EDEEE

as a result of either…or…

I remember getting 2 Es for the last section for the last two problems.

I used Lord of the Flies and Macbeth… totally digressed from the topic but maybe they’ll take my big vocab into consideration.

I only managed to do one example for the essay, albeit it was really developed. I wrote about Abraham Lincoln freeing the slaves, abusing his power, and how there was a lot of misinterpreation during his era but in modern America, we now know he was doing the right thing.

I would have wrote more but my proctor didn’t go, “15 minutes left, 10 minutes left, 5 minutes left”. She only said 5 minutes left for ever section and that screwed me over on the essay. Maybe I can get by with a 10, because then I’m pretty sure I got 2000+.

i had E for 12. she won the election as a result of either blah or blah. that was a guess on my part, but it seems to have been corroborated a couple of times.

does anyone remember the question previous to that, though, the one with the answer D? #11?

I used Hitler too haha

How much do you think vocab helps? I had like 4-5 hard vocabulary words in my essay used correctly. And do you think the number of examples really matters because I honestly dont know how you can have 3 examples and expand on all of them. I had two examples but I barely had room and used every inch of the 2 pages.

@Yunsang I talked about Big Brother and the Party being to controlling and everything. It was a bit of a stretch but my Lit teacher said when in doubt use 1984 cause it almost always works. Hopefully Mussolini’s a good one too cause we just took brief notes on him yesterday in APUSH so I wrote about what I knew (granted not a lot) and linked a little bit to Hitler and the Bolshevik Revolution. My Macbeth paragraph wasn’t as developed as I wanted cause I was a little crunched on time towards the end. Hoping for 10+

lol I think I’m like the only person who didn’t use history. And I stretched the plots a lot. But at least one of the books is kind of obscure, but well-respected so hopefully they don’t notice :stuck_out_tongue: I mean it sounded good.

I used Hitler (LOL), Queen Elizabeth (Don’t ask how), and Vladimir Putin (I didn’t elaborate too well). How do you guys remember what you put so easily? I don’t even remember… :</p>

Essay - I used The Visit by Durrenmatt (money gives one person power to redefine legal system of town) and Frankenstein by Shelly (Frankenstein’s power to create allows him to bypass natural laws that govern creation). Hoping for a 12.

the essay was so boring
