March SAT

Hi I had 2 things I wanted to address

  1. Has there always been a 5th section of the SAT (3rd math section)? I don’t remember there being one when I took the SAT previously and my friends and the Internet said it’s an experimental section that doesn’t count.
  2. So many students of a particular ethnic group (not going to state out of respect for them) always happen to be in my testing room since their last names are close to mine. Anyways, during breaks they like to talk in their native language. Other times, the proctors ignore them and let them do what they want. Today, the proctor called them out and forbade them from using their native language because it would give them an “unfair advantage.” Is this right? The proctor loosely monitors the other students, but doesn’t necessary hear every word they say to find out if they’re cheating.

The 5th section threw me off guard. I got the english version, but people around me were using calculators so I thought I was in the wrong section for a while. Also, if people are allowed to speak during breaks, I don’t see why the proctor would need forbid speech in a different language.
