How are auditions? Who judges the auditions? Are the directors super picky about who the put in the band? How long does it take to find out if you made it or not? If you do not make it after your first audition can you audition again for the same season?
I am pretty sure the Director does all auditions for winds and brass. Admittance depends on how big the section already is and how you stack up against other applicants, much like any other marching band. There is a first and second section on most instruments, so you don’t have to be “the best” player to get in. I don’t think you can audition again the same year if you are not accepted because they start writing the shows for the number they have. It’s always possible that they could have a late dropout though. You can email wildcatmarchingband@uky.edu and ask some of these questions.
