Does Michigan recruit people for their Marching Band? I am interested in playing in the drumline in college and I was wondering if they did such a thing.

Perhaps, it might influence your chances a bit. If some of their best drummers left, they might need some new ones. So, you should indicate that you play the drums and that you would like to be in the marching band.

I don't think they actively recruit people though. It's not like athletics.

I was just wondering what their policy was. Regardless if it would help me get in or not I would still join. I was just wondering if it would help me get into the school.

I think they hold try outs for the band, give the school a call and ask, that's the best way to get an accurate answer. I know they practice over on Hill St.

Being in the band won't help you get into Umich. It's just another EC for admissions to look at. But if you wanna do the band next yr, you have to do a solo audition along w/ sight reading and scales. Oh did I also mention you have to audition in front of the band?
