Marine biology major help :/

Ok so I am probably a 10 out of 10 on the confused scale.
What should my undergrad major be if I wanted to end up going to grad school or Ph.D in marine bio.
I was thinking general bio or ecology, or animal biology ?
And than also do you know any really good schools for marine biology? Preferably in the California/Florida area

Look at: UCSD, Eckerd, Tampa, University of San Diego, Miami, New College of Florida, Florida State, and Occidental

Thank you  … Do you know what a good undergrad major should be ? … I heard that just majoring in marine bio is not a very good idea.

Any one ? lol

Just look at the programs and don’t worry about the name of the major right now. It’s not really important as a freshman. Just write down Biology and Marine Biology on the forms expressing your interest.

Eckerd, as recommended above, has a very well known MB program. The best part is the school is right on the beach, and you have free access to all water sports. I haven’t visited but that part sounds amazing. Eckerd also has some pet-friendly dorms  if that appeals, and great scholarships if you qualify.

I visited New College and they have a whole building for Marine Biology. It was like a mini-aquarium. Very exciting. I saw kids experimenting with fish, how they use their sensory systems. It was cool, and made me want to study there. Plus, NC is write on the beautiful bay. You can observe the ocean every evening.

You’re forgetting UC Santa Cruz with it’s own enormous research facility minutes from campus right on the Pacific ocean, offering an undergrad major in marine bio.

You major in marine science as an undergrad. Most schools that offer that program offer tracks in marine bio, marine chem, marine geo, or marine geophysics. Your post graduate will be very specific to the research that you intend to do. The courses are very rigorous. I would suggest that you look at the courses in the program offered at each college and talk with your guidance counselor to schedule the highest level math and science classes that your HS offers. I can attest to the level of study at Eckerd College. There were some great schools listed on this thread and many more as well. You need to speak with your parents to see what they can contribute towards your education, and check the education requirements of the schools you are interested in. Some private schools offer merit aid if your grades and test scores are high.
