I have always found the Parents Forum to yield the best info, so I am posting here as well as in the graduate school forum. Can anyone suggest some good schools for graduate study (MS and/or PhD) in marine biology or fish ecology? I am very much oriented toward field biology (as opposed to lab. biology) and I am interested in any areas associated with aquatic environments (salt or fresh water).

I believe that UCSD has a very good program in marine biology. I’d also check out U Hawaii.

University of Washington
Oregon State University
University of Rhode Island
University of North Carolina

Florida State-Marine Biology, College of Charleston-Marine Biology, University of Florida-Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences.

I have always found “Grad Schools Dot Com” to be very helpful to search by major.

University of Queensland (Australia). University of Hawaii.

University of Miami - Rosenstiel School

Does Woods Hole have a graduate program or do they only have a postdoctoral program?

Scripps Oceanography definitely has one of the top programs in the country.

Kind of a hidden gen, Coastal Carolina had a pretty impressive program when we were looking at programs, with new facilities, etc. Don’t know the current profs since it’s been about 4 years since we looked.
