Marine Corps Scholarships for Holy Cross

On February 6, 2009, Park B. Smith hosted a wine dinner at Veritas in New York, to launch an endowed fund to provide scholarship assistance for U.S. Marine Corps veterans and the children of disabled Marine officers to attend the College of the Holy Cross.

Featured guests at the dinner will be Robert M. Parker, Jr., the noted wine consultant; Philippe Cambie, the proprietor of one of Chateauneuf du Pape’s leading estates; Vincent Maurel of Clos Saint-Jean; and General James T. Conway, commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Tickets for the dinner are $25,000 each and the fund already has raised $800,000.

In addition, the College of the Holy Cross last month dedicated the new Park B. and Linda Smith Laboratories, part of the first phase of the college’s Integrated Science Complex.

The Smith’s $10 million contribution to the facility was the lead gift and continued their long term contributions to the college.
