We received a financial aid letter via USPS on 1/31. No real surprises, but looked official and broke down all the costs.
@cutback , how much have you received as financial aid? and what parentage of financial need has been met?

Marist doesn’t require SAT but all of the above posts mention SAT or ACT scores. Does this effectively mean that you don’t need them but you’re better off if you do well on them? D has an UW 4.0 and a weighted 4.5ish. A merit scholarship might make the difference in her ability to attend. Does she need to go crazy trying to up her scores which are not in line with her grades?
@byadg123 A good rule of thumb for any school that is test optional is to submit the scores if they are above the school’s average. At a Marist Open House, they specifically told us that a good test score would earn a few bonus points in the evaluation process. The same holds true for merit considerations. But I have heard that Marist is not very generous with their merit scholarships. My son had similar ACT and GPA as brbradbury above and received $8,000 in merit scholarships. However, Marist’s annual tuition at $36,500 was at least a few thousand dollars lower than that of many other schools he looked at so the overall cost to attend was more of a factor than the merit scholarship amount.
My kid has a similar GPA as @newjerseydad888 and @byadg123’s kids got, coupled with a 35 ACT, and $15K in merit per year and was invited to honors.
From what I gather, the kids in Honors get more individualized mentoring - similar to the smaller liberal arts colleges. D will feel overwhelmed and would greatly benefit from close relationships with faculty.
