Marist College Class of 2014!

Anyone get accepted off the waitlist yet? My D is on waiting list and is very confused as to why she wasn’t accepted the first round 3.8gpa, NatHonorSoc, FrenchHonorSoc, many, many xtracurriculars. In at Syracuse, U of Vermont, Ithaca, UNCW all with merit $. on waitlist at Marist.

I know because they think she thought is was a safety and didn’t take it seriously

Wait list responses are not due in until 4/11. I think they will go from there. They also do not know how many actually accept admission until 5/1. It will be a few weeks at least in my opinion.

My son was accepted 4.0, 1800 SAT, Eagle Scout, Captain of two teams, etc. Since he has decided against going we will withdrawal shortly. 4K in Merit. Not the reason though, just likes other schools better. Good-Luck hopefully this opens a spot for a waited listed person.

Out of 5 at our school there were 2 aceptances and 3 waitlists. The 2 acceptances are not going. The campus is great but the town is pitiful. We are witlisted but doubtful even if accepted.

I’d really like to know the percentage of deferred during early action that were also wait listed during regular decision. I have not heard of any acceptances.

I heard they misjudged last year and had too many people in the fall. I believe they accepted 2% less this year to be conservative so that does not happen again. The good news is they may go to the waitlist, the bad news is they said there is a possibility of doing some spring acceptances - a la Binghamton.

It is a good school but honestly I was not wowed by it. The campus feels cramped. I can see a lot of students spending the majority of their down time in their dorm.

I agree, mrwho123. My S’s choices are now George Mason that I absolutely love and U Del. I have always thought–it’s Poughkeepsie and living near NYC, pok doesn’t wow me. My S really never gave that fact any thought …

Going to withdrawal our application this week. (Also know someone else that is.) Hopefully that opens up another couple spots for people who are on the waitlist. Nothing wrong with the school, just found others that the kids like better. Good-Luck !!

Marist has dipped into the waitlist…maybe not deep, but at least there is some hope.

My D was accepted off Marist waitlist last night. Told they are able to take a few off wait list. Good luck!

That is good news. They made some calls on 4/23 and more this week. Rumor is if you sent in more info and especially if you visited the school after getting waitlisted (especially if you did not visit before) it was a big plus. Some waitlisted students even got scholorships which to me is weird that they did not get in at first. I think those may have been qualified students that got waitlisted since they did not show enough interest in the eyes of Marist. Make no doubt about it, Marist wants to feel loved by you.

yes two years ago a friend of my D’s was waitlisted then got in off waitlist and given $16k a year! very, very odd…
