Daughter is freshman at The College of NJ. While a good school, not what she was hoping for. While she is sticking out theyear, she has already begun research and likes Marist alot for fall 2014. Fall gpa was 3.05 in communications and is a athlete at school. Will likely continue if accepted to Marist.
I cannot find a common data set, that will outline the number of transfer apps/acceptances.
Does anyone has info on transfer acceptance rate and any other factors that may influence that.

Sportsman, can’t help with your specific question but I’m fairly certain TCNJ is more competitive than marist, at least based on SAT scores. If your daughter did well there i’m sure she will get into Marist. We actually “spoke” quite a bit in the past while our kids were looking at schools - many of the same ones. PC, Loyola, SJU, Scranton, etc.

My daughter ended up at SJU, which was a shock to us all, seeing as she didn’t even want to visit. Her 1st choice was always PC and Loyola. She’s a sophmore and i’m glad to say she is doing great.

My son is a senior in HS and looking at many of the same schools. Scranton was high on his list from a baseball standpoint, but a shoulder injury last year seems to have ended his career. He has visited Marist twice. First time a basic info. session and tour, and then went back for a “shadow day”. He (like most boys i guess) doesn’t get all that excited about the process, but really seems to like it. That is his 1st choice right now and awaiting EA notification.

I always thought TCNJ was an excellent school and had considered it for both kids. Neither looked at it but curious what your daughter did not like, and what about Marist does she find appealing.

I’ve always been curious as to why Marist’s acceptance rate is so low. It’s in the 30’s which puts it much lower than some really good schools.

Marist process for transfer students will be different than undergrad students. the best advice I can give you is to call the transfer rep in admissions and get your questions answered directly by the admission rep. Marist is top 5% most selective school in the country, but this should not shy students away from applying because Marist really is a great school for students. Here at Marist our transfer students population is growing more and more!
