As indicated in a front page article in today's Miami Heraldl, UF has sought to have the Florida Legislature pass a bill which is structured to permit only UF to raise annual tuition at UF to match current national average tuition rates at other colleges and universities. Currently the maximum increase is capped at 15%, an 8% increase by the state goverment with the board of trustees allowed to increase the tuition charge up another 7%. The current bill if it passes and is signed by the governor would allow tuition charges that would dwarf the current limit. Please read the article and express your views to your local state senator or house of representitve member.

Ain’t gonna happen. Governor Scott said publically before the 2012 legislative session began that he is against tuition increases. He can, and he will, veto the “Market Rate/Pre-eminent Universities Act” if and when it comes before him.
