Marketing Boston College (CSoM) v/s William & Mary

Overall
Boston College B-School #6 overall
William & Mary B-School #27 overall

Marketing
Boston College Marketing #44
William & Mary Marketing #2

I’m a bit shocked at how high BC is ranked overall, but how low their marketing program is ranked. Anyone out there with any experience with the marketing program in BC’s CSoM?
How were internships? Did you have any trouble finding a job?

BC marketing (like most marketing curricula in biz schools) is a joke. Intro to Marketing is by far the most useless CSOM-mandated class, and I have heard mix reviews on upper level marketing courses.

So, I’d advise stepping back from the marketing departments and look at the school as a whole, seeing as the marketing field is largely based on school reputation (aka legitimate marketing jobs are hard to come by). W&M was my number one school and I ultimately went to BC, so I was in a similar situation. The huge selling point of CSOM is that it is a four year program that requires no second application process to get into the biz school. W&M, conversely, is only a two year program during junior and senior year. CSOM also seemed to give off a more “prestigious” vibes, meaning that the names of employers that CSOM has seemed more impressive at the time than W&M’s. Also, Boston is a marketing, consulting, and financial mecca, so you are in a geographically ideal place. Williamsburg, meanwhile, is in a beautiful yet remote area halfway between Richmond and Norfolk.

Thanks tizz75, that was very helpful!
I’m definitely leaning towards BC!
