Marquette vs U of Dayton

S want to pursue a Civil Engineering degree. OOS student. Although accepted at Purdue and Penn State as well, he is more incline to a smaller catholic school (comes from a Jesuit HS). What most attracts him to both Marquette and Dayton is their co-op programs as well as being much smaller than state colleges. Marquette is a bit better ranked in Engineering but his counselor has spoken very positively about Dayton. Visited Marquette and loved it, will visit Dayton soon. Any thoughts....

First a disclosure I’m an alumnus and my S is currently a junior in engineering. I would say Marquette has a lot to offer with regards to the engineering program with the new facilities (I asume you saw them during the visit). The Marquette co-op program is one of the best plus it has the advantage of having many opportunities within the Milwaukee-Chicago area. If you want to learn more about the program here is the link [Engineering Co-op Program | College of Engineering | Marquette University](http://www.marquette.edu/engineering/coop_eng/index.shtml) But at the end it should come down to fit and were your S would feel most cormfortable. If your S has not joined yet he should check the facebook page <a href=“Facebook — Выполните вход или зарегистрируйтесь”>Facebook — Выполните вход или зарегистрируйтесь; good luck!

I am also a Marquette engineering alumnus and my daughter currently attends MU. Both schools have very good programs and I know students at both schools love their schools and school pride is very strong. I would give the edge to Marquette though since it seems to be more well known nationally whereas Dayton is a regional school. Plus Marquette’s new engineering building and the well established co-op program as newsdrms mentioned. Good luck.
