Marshall global summer internship - are they really worth the cost?

My son got accepted into this program, and it costs up to $10K (cost for placement, interview, living, flight, etc.) to spend two months in Sydney or London. Several questions:

1) Is it worth the cost?
2) Are the internships paid?
3) What is the true cost of this type of program? Marshall has global summer internship programs in several other locations.
4) What type of companies did you get to work at?

For current USC students who attended the program, can you please share your true thoughts on your experience?

Thanks!

I considered applying but the internships are unpaid and generally do not lead to job offers of any sort, especially in the case of London which I was primarily interested in.

It is basically a paid chance to live/work somewhere foreign for the summer. There are a ton of companies they can place you at in nearly every industry I’ve been told but I don’t know specifics as to which.
