Marshall School - Global Leadership Program

My niece was accepted into Marshall. Recently she received a form letter about the Honors Program, along with a booklet. There wasn’t any indication in the letter nor the booklet about what the process is regarding entrance into this program. Any advice from those people in the know? Thank you.

The GLP program sounds amazing. I wish that as a transfer I could somehow participate in it but alas it is for freshmen only.

You should be proud of your niece. The Global Leadership Program is open BY INVITATION ONLY (I am assuming she is to be invited). to the most academically talented first year students in each incoming class. These students enroll in a Leadership Colloquium in their first year. During spring break they travel abroad to meet executives from regional and international companies. Select students within the program have also been offered competitive summer internships in China.

Marshall offers all students an array of unique and educational opportunites abroad.

There’s no entrance requirement (essays, etc.) other than accepting the invitation. It’s a great program: a 2-unit pass/fail class Freshman Fall & Spring , and a trip to Shanghai or Beijing over Spring Break. S just got back from Shanghai and said it was amazing. He and his friends took the GLP classes on top of the regular 16 units for 18 total. There’s very little extra work for the class, just show up to the lecture each week and turn in notes. They also did a presentation on US business for an exchange w/ one of the universities in China. The only downside is that the trip is not inexpensive (about $2500), but they do have need-based scholarships.
