Anyone know how the Maryland Distinguished Scholar awards are paid out? It sounds like the awards are paid directly to the university, but not until after the fall term begins. So does the university credit student accounts, or does the student have to pay the bill up front and then get reimbursed somehow (by the university or the state)?

Mine has already been paid to the university already for this fall

zman5–you are a returning student, right? Do you remember how it was done your first semester? Thanks!

I’m an incoming freshman and my student account reflects the credit from the MD Distinguished Scholarship already. Verify on the Financial Aid status link at financialaid.umd.edu to see if you award is there.

Thanks, cyborg. D’s account has not been credited yet. How long ago did you accept your award right away? D just accepted it at the end of last week.

I accepted it about two weeks ago, the day I got the email about the award.
