Well when I had asked admissions a couple of months back they said that they admitted 36 MT minors in 2006. I'm not sure how many there were in this years freshman class but I assume it was about the same.

Some in the MT Minor program are in the BA, not the BFA for Acting. I have worked with someone who entered for the MT Minor but is in the BA. Not all who do a Minor in MT are in the BFA. The BA with a MT Minor is also by audition.

Yeah, and not everyone that goes into the BA does the minor. However you must be in either of the performance degrees to be eligible to do the minor, which is why I found that acceptance rate rather high. From what I do know, they don't have a specific number of slots like other schools. More of a roundabout number.

yea i dont really no the details thats all i heard during the information session. 50 for the Ba and and 50 for the BFa.

Would singing "In my own little corner" from Rogers and Hammerstein cinderella be really ridiculous? What about "On My Own" from Les Mis?

Both songs are EXTREMELY overdone. It is best to avoid EXTREMELY overdone songs. You do not have to find an obscure song but shouldn't sing the most common audition songs that exist either. It also would show a lack of knowledge of the musical theater repertoire. Listen to many musical theater songs to find other ones suited to your voice and get advice from a voice teacher who knows your strengths. There are plenty of other Rogers and Hammerstein songs! Even from Cinderella....."A Lovely Night" is a better choice than In My Own Little Corner and is not as overdone. I suggest avoiding Les Mis songs all together and they fall on almost all "do not do" lists, and most of all "On My Own" is the MOST overdone of them.

haha thanks!

If you audition for MT is it possible to still be accepted to the BA theatre program and not the MT? Or is it very unlikely that you will be accepted to the BA theatre if you audition for MT and are not accepted there?

mayitami - this is a really good question. I can't remember if this was addressed at all during the info sesssion. My D was only interested in their BA with the MT minor. I would call MMC directly because their website is a bit confusing. :)
