Mass Mailing Mania

Remember as you beat the path to the mailbox every day, that is how your parent's will feel during BCT hoping to get at least one letter from you! ;-)

So true Mom...we waited 16 days waiting for word, any word, that ours was doing okay. The first picture posted by Webguy during basic, at least to to us, he looked very tired, though to others he looked "determined."

I'm hoping that it's okay that I post this here. If I need to start a new thread I can.

Anyway, I'm part of the group waiting for the mass mailings. However, just yesterday my online status changed from application "Complete" to "Incomplete" and they say they need my college transcripts. This seems rather odd to me since I had them sent at the end of the fall semester. I'm assuming that they must not have received them, or maybe they were misplaced somehow. It's just...frustrating to have this show up so late in the game.

I'm planning on calling my ALO today, just to update him on the situation. Unfortunately, I was unable to check my status until late yesterday, and so I won't be able to contact my Admissions Counselor or my college until Monday. Anyone have anything similar happen to them, or any idea of what happened?

ARG!!!! Flyersboy!!! I just got done with all that mumbo jumbo about alliteration and assonance and such in english class! lol hmmm maybe english class does come in handy after all? :D

And as for online status changes, mine took two weeks to change, and people say that DoDMERB lets you know ahead of time- check because it might, but it didn't for me.

GOOD LUCK!!

I'm from Montana by the way in case this counts- even though i'm not waiting anymore :p

Mikil- Are you sure they don't want like this spring semester's report? I know that some colleges want the 7th and/or 8th semester grade report for high schoolers so maybe its similar if you are coming from college? just a thought. Hope it works out

If you peak over at www.serviceacademyforums.com their list is growing very fast now, so my guess is the 1st wave of mass mailing went out on Friday. About 10 have been added onto their list since Friday. A couple of people said they were told this is the week the big bulk comes out. Typically the AFA likes to send at the end of the week so people get them on @Fri or Sat.

GOOD LUCK

Hahaha! Nice F22.

Still waiting here in Jersey.....

Could be this week, could be next month, could never! Dangit! haha. I need to get my mind of this stuff.

F22 - That's something my ALO suggested too. However, any official transcript I send right now will not have my Spring Sem. grade on it yet, as they only report the grades at the end of the year. My Calc. prof did say she'd be able to send a grade report if necessary. I haven't been able to really talk to anyone in admissions yet, as my Counselor is away on vacation this week. But I'm calling again today to see if anybody else there can help me out.

Thanks for the reply. I hope it works out too :)

ya i really am not sure how it goes for college students. good luck though and i hope someone can help! :D

this question is to anyone who has received a letter that they did not receive an appointment to AFA-

did you recieve an offer to the AFA Prep School?

are offers to the AFA Prep School sent now as well or at some later date?

Anyone received a Prep School offer yet?

Did you apply to the prep school?

you don't actually apply to the AFA Prep School-

if you are not selected for AFA you are automatically considered for the Prep School

Very interesting. I don't know much about the Prep School. I assume its for exceptional candidates in every way except below standard academics?

Basically you're correct. I've heard from a number of places that most people at the Prep School are athletes that are slacking a little bit academically.

Pretty much right - we also have some guys that were former enlisted, JROTC, and CAP. My understanding is that preppies are supposed to be exceptional in all but one area. There are a couple that did get accepted to other academies (USMA, USNA) and at least one football player I know of that was sent here as a 'med turnback' from 2012 for physical therapy.

BlueSuiter-

which month did you receive a letter offering you a Prep spot?

just wondering whether to be nervous yet

To be perfectly honest I don't remember. It was a bit different for me since I am prior enlisted - in other words I was notified I was going to the prep school long before the official letter came.

I remember it was after the Academy ones went out, like in April or something, from when mateus got accepted.

Congratulations to all those who have received Appointments.

Has anyone that did not receive an Appointment to The AFA receive

a letter offering an Appointment to the Prep School ?

According to my last conversation with my Counselor, I am to receive an Appointment to the Prep School, but haven't received the official letter.

Hate to keep asking my counselor, so I was just curious if anyone has received a letter offering the Prep School Appointment.

if your counselor says it is the mail, than just trust them...it's in the mail!

Congrats

I'm excited for all you guys to be coming in- you're in for one heck of a ride here (well, there, since I'm in Phoenix right now), even within your first year.
