Massacre Part II? Post your Decision

Thanks, and I like your ideas - you've made the best ideas for everyone-- you guys are so considerate!

you could use BBcode, although it's a bit tedious to have to type in all the coding and such.

ACCEPTED
1000/500/500/500, 2.0 U.W.

DEFERRED
1000/500/500/500, 2.0 U.W.

REJECTED
1000/500/500/500, 2.0 U.W.

(what do all those numbers mean? i just copied and pasted the accepted thing, so if the numbers don't go under deferred/rejected, then i apologize)

Those numbers are in this order: SAT/SAT II/ SAT II/ SAT II, GPA

oh. i didn't recognize that because around here it's usually 1560/800/800/800/800/800/800/800/ ... /800/790 4.0 U.W.

but i guess those stats were arbitrary.

how exactly do you post in color? I know, off-topic. Sorry, guys. Nevermind, I got it!

I propose that we give a lot of stats so that we help the class for next year. I found it frustrating reading over last year's thread and only seeing "ACCEPTED! 1550"

Lets do it like this:

Decision:

Stats:
[ul]
[]SAT:
[]SAT IIs:
[]GPA:
[]Rank:
[li]Other stats: [/li][/ul]

Subjective:
[ul]
[]Essays:
[]Teacher Recs:
[]Counselor Rec:
[]Hook (if any):
[/ul]

Location/Person:
[ul]
[]State or Country:
[]School Type:
[]Ethnicity:
[]Gender:
[/ul]

Other Factors:
[ul]
[/ul]

General Comments:

SO, a completed form might look like this:

Decision: ADMITTED!

Stats:
[ul]
[]SAT: 1500
[]SAT IIs: 750 / 750 / 750
[]GPA: 3.5
[]Rank: 20 / 600
[li]Other stats: APs: 5,5,4[/li][/ul]

Subjective:
[ul]
[]Essays: Great
[]Teacher Recs: One ok, one good
[]Counselor Rec: Great
[]Hook (if any): no hook
[/ul]

Location/Person:
[ul]
[]State or Country: Some State
[]School Type: Public
[]Ethnicity: White
[]Gender: Male
[/ul]

Other Factors:
[ul]
[li] None[/li][/ul]

General Comments:
I can't believe it!

If you guys want to use this format, I posted the code for it here: <a href="http://www.ubermeese.com/format.txt%5B/url%5D">http://www.ubermeese.com/format.txt</a></p>

Just fill in the blanks, etc.

hmm. i like your idea, newt.

i know that i'll only post all those stats if i'm accepted. but since i'm not going to be, i know i won't want to.

Ooh, Newt. Lovely. I like it.

Sorry to be a downer, but everytime someone posts a new idea the thread for acceptances/rejections/defers, it justs gets more complicated. Ok, imagine you just got accepted to Yale: do you really want to spend your time writing up your life history? Or do you want to celebrate? I understand that other people will want to know stats, so maybe people can add that stuff on in a couple of days after the excitement has died down? Just my thoughts.

we're trying to get it all organized now, but once the 16th rolls around, that plan will be completely thrown out the window.

Well it seemed as though people didn't have a hard time congregating and chatting about it last year. Knowing this group of people, I think we'll all want to share our results with each other and find out what happened to everyone else. Anyway, it doesn't have to be complicated. I think the idea is just to create a readable, convenient thread so that we can all follow it and Yale EA'ers for the Class of '10 can follow it too.

How people want to accomplish that is fine by me. I just don't want to see 80 separate threads saying "OMG! I got in!" "I got rejected. I'm going to kill myself." ...on the 16th.

so we are going to use the format below (or above, however you view your post order)

okay. lets agree, how many threads will there be? then we can assign people to create them so we dont have 80 zillion threads.

How wonderful it is to see you- Did you read my friend's story? You would enjoy it so

That's a LOT of info. Maybe there could be a thread for 'CLASS of 2010 This is for you' and people could go back and list things in detail for the benefit for next year's applicants, but for the sake of immediacy we could just post what we talked about earlier, with SAT, SATII, GPA and a 5-word description of what you feel was the one single thing that was special about you.

Newt's format is the best!
We should SO do it that way!
It's so comprehensive, thorough and helpful!

OK...I went ahead and did a template for it: (Great idea, newt.....maybe it will become the Ivy reporting format, haha.)

Just copy this to your post and take out the spaces left behind the 1st brackets:

ooh thanks!

just a thought, but do people actually send in bad teacher recs or essays?

My teacher wrote a not-so-great rec for me. I didn't know that until after he sent it in though. It didn't say anything bad about me, but it was clear that it was pretty much the same reccomendation he wrote for everyone. All it did was list my activities and grades. I let my college counselor know, so she tried to make her letter extra good to make up for it. Oh well.
