I was a little surprised to see that UMass Lowell, and Dartmouth to a lesser extent, both have decently sized Fine Art departments. UML in particular seems pretty solid. Amherst seems to have a good program but it will probably be a stretch admissions-wise.
My son is seriously considering MassArt for Illustration or Graphic Design but he will apply to UMD as an academic safety. Does anyone have any experience with UMass Lowell’s art program? How would it compare to MassArt?
He is not really an “Art School Kid” and would probably do better at a low pressure place like UML.
